Flame Restaurant

What would you think of when the weather is rather cold and it's been raining for days??

I would think of steam boat, I don't know about you.

In fact, today's evening is pretty cold and lately it's been raining for days, no doubt it ain't that heavy, but drizzling. Still find steam boat could make you warm, apart from a big big hug from your love one, right?

Anyway, saying no more, if you are coming from the south to north, you would definitely see this giant signboard on your left. And that means, you've reached the 'in-place' in town - Auto City Juru.

And yes, we were heading to the Flame Steam Boat in Auto City. Flame Steam Boat actually started from Mark Cheng Ho-Nam in year 2003 in KL, heard that his first Flame was in Jalan Imbi.

Anyway, not to further on Flame's history.... guess what we have ordered and what we have taken, ok??

We have ordered the 3 person sets dinner (since we have 5 of persons for dinner), and other side dishes like vegetables, meat balls, fried fish head, fried shrimp wanton, padi frog (田鸡), siew bak choy with oyster sauce.

Since dad & mom prefers something like non-spicy soup, thus, we ordered 2 types of soup base, 1 clear soup and the other 1 is porridge.

While waiting, we were busy scooping the chili paste that we want, they have chili padi, garlic oil, blend chili paste, sambal herbi chili paste oil and green chili with vinegar.

Thank God, it didn't take a long time for them to bring the soup plus other dishes, so it was a pretty fast serving and honestly that's make a hungry customer happy.
From the pictures above, you could see us busy "steam boating", huh??

Anyway, the entire dinner was very fulfiling and it wasn't that expensive, it was about RM242 for the entire meal, of course with 4 bottles of Calsberg.

Well, do drop any steam boat restaurant whenever you feel like getting some warm, ya?? [wink]

Home Style Kopitiam

When ever I passed by Taman Inderawasih, I always see this shop opens and not many customers dining in. And I thought it's either expensive or the food is lousy.

Guess what? I was pretty adventurous this morning, suddenly yearning for bread toast. Actually bread toast can be done at home, but, I was just wanna get out and feel the fresh air. So, hubby and I were driving to that direction and decided to give it a try on whatever they have in their menu.

To our surprise, the outlet do offer free WiFi, what they have are pretty similar to Kapitan Kopitiam which I had tried the other day. If you want me to compare, I'll for this Home Style Kopitiam, price is not the pricey, the half boil egg is pretty good, especially the time that they control pretty well.

What caught my attention was one of the bread toast, named Adam & Eve. I was wondering what is Adam & Eve?? I didn't know until they brought over then I realized, 'Oh, it was just merely kaya and butter~la!!'

What a name, huh?

I've got myself a set B breakfast set, which consists of egg omelet, 'special' sausage, baked beans, and a butter toast. The 'special' sausage is actually herbs chicken sausage, the herbs are strong, and I quite like it. In fact, the price is only RM4.50.

We both do like the place, cuz, it's spacious and they have those antique clock, picture and fire lamp that hang on the wall.

So, overall, ... this is another place for breakfast.

They do serve lunch, things like home made koay teow soup, fried rice, etc..... I believe these are cater for those office staff in that area.

If you know the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) main entrance, the shop is actually just next to the BORR.

What we had paid for the breakfast was only RM11.oo, everything was unexpected, food are nice and prices are not pricey. Do check it out whenever you're here, ok?

Home cook food

It took me the entire morning to prepare 4 dishes and 1 soup for today's lunch.
And I am darn tired.

First thing in the morning is to get my banker cum my driver to drive me to the wet market, and buy the food that I planned to cook for lunch. 4 dishes and 1 soup, honestly, it maybe very easy to others, but hey, am not that professional compared to my domestic minister (aka mommy) yet.

But then, daddy was giving me the compliment and that's honestly made my day.... even more happy to make dad more food to eat, to try.

Ok, let's see what I have prepared, ok?

1. Oyster sauce chicken

2. Bean sprouts with spring onions and chilies

3. Bean sauce (豆瓣酱) 焖 Pork ribs

4. Steam fish (蒸鱼)
5. 玉竹豬骨汤

First, clean whatever I need to clean or wash all of these food, and start to marinate for a longer time so that when I cook it will turn out to be tasty.

Oh ya, I actually do boil water to wash those ribs before I stew it. Others ingredients consists of garlics, gingers, chilies, spring onions, Chinese coriander (or Chinese parsley 芫荽), oyster source, sugar, salt, fermented black soybean (豆豉), 豆瓣酱 and dark soya source.

I used oyster source, dark soya sauce, a bit of sugar and salt to marinate for about 1 hour. Cut ginger into slices, and spring onions and the rest of the ingredients too.

Heat up the wok to fry the garlics, fermented black soybean (豆豉) follow by bean sauce (豆瓣酱), fry these ingredients until fragrant and add on the pork ribs and stir fry again. Once it's fully mixed, transfer those food into a pot and 焖 until the ribs are tender.

So, the 1st dish consider completed. Hehehehe....

2nd dish, the oyster sauce chicken - we have marinated the chicken for an hour time, now it's time to cook ... again wash the wok and heat up with sesame oil, stir fry () the ginger until fragrant and follow by the garlic. Then after add the marinated chicken into the wok and stir fry. Oh ya, make sure it's enough of 'wok hei' (锅气).

And now, the 2nd dish is done too.

Here comes the 3rd one - Steam Fish! Steam fish consider is one of the easiest compared the other dishes. You just need to wash the fishes and put those gingers on top of those fishes and steam it for 10mins. And added on those Chinese coriander & spring onions on top that consider done too.

What I did differently was I cooked the sauce and add it on top. The sauce was actually light soya sauce, garlic and little bit of sugar and pepper. That will make the fish delicious.

As for the soup, I dumped all ingredients into the pot and boil it for nearly 2 hours. The ingredients are 玉竹 (Polygonatum), red dates (红枣), honey dates (蜜枣), wolfberries (枸杞/杞子).

So now, here are the final results after the battle in the kitchen.... how do you find this??
