Home Cook Ham Wrap Asparagus

If I can be like mom think of a creative way of cooking dish, I guess my hubby would be very happy.

Mom said she has been cooking for too long and she’s running out of idea what to cook for the family anymore. Don’t know where she learns this and she recently she made it herself. This is something simple and it’s best to pan fry with butter.

First she bought a few grams of thin slices of ham, whether is chicken or pork meat, both can be used.
Then some asparagus, asparagus good to slice the bottom part so that it will not be too hard for old people or young children to consume.

Slice finger size of red carrot, if you have Enoki Mushroom it would be better.

Wrap all these ingredients together and pan fry with butter for about 15minutes. This can be taken as tea break or a finger food with friends.

Especially good to eat with a group of friends that watch live telecast football!!!

Enjoy!!

Hey, you're much better than me already! You've done a good and fair bit of cooking, uhhhh...I am the one who doesn't walk into the kitchen, except to take photos or get my cup of water...hehehe.
That's one thing about moms...they're like naturals, huh?:D

Hi Little Inbox, you can give it a try and show your mom?!

Hi Allie, ya ya ya... you're right.

Hi Allen, remember to share wor?!

Hi mimid3vils, by right if you use butter to pan fry, must a bit of oil so that it will not burn like this. :) Old people dont know mah... :)

I actually have experimented a lot with this dish back when I was actively into cooking. Here are a few tips.

1) snap off the woody ends of the asparagus or alternatively shave off the hard bits

2) pre boil your asparagus in salted boiling water (they take about 2 minutes to cook) This will greatly reduced the cooking time.

3) The best ham to use is proscuitto (italian parma ham) although that might not be available in all supermarkets in Malaysia (I know Jusco do sell it). You can also use streaky bacon which is 'sticky' so you don't have to use a toothpick. Streaky bacon is also long, so you don't have to cut your asparagus!

4) Get your pan hot enough - if you already pre cooked your asparagus, the ham only needs 1-2 minutes cooking time. (3-4 for bacon)

5) As a very impressive starter for a western dinner, you can serve 3 or 4 of these ham/bacon wrapped asparagus with a poached/ fried egg. The runny yolk will create a 'sauce' for the asparagus.

6) You can add some parmesan shavings or cheese on to it too! Or serve it with fried mushrooms...

hope this gives you a few more ideas :)

Hi Christy, it's my first time dropping you a comment. Yeah, the similar thing was introduced to me by my cousin in law. She is a Japanese. Japanese normally wrapped different vege with pork and then BBQ it. It is so yummy. I especially like the asparagus, brinjal & lady fingers.
