Recently made way for the new outlet in Queensbay Mall and now the new neighbor for Sakae Sushi that located at 2nd floor on the Central Zone. Guess who is this?? It has also featured in HoChak program in TV8 also.

Yup!! That’s right!
Xian Ding Wei is the new outlet right now that occupying the former Swenson’s unit in Queensbay Mall. It offers all Taiwanese local food like 3-cup chicken, Oyster & Large Intestines Vermicelli, Beef Noodle, etc. You don’t need a passport to travel all the way to Taiwan to savor the authentic Taiwan food, but instead with what Xian Ding Wei offers, that could definitely satisfy your gluttonous instinct.

What’s make known to many people about Taiwan is 3 cup chicken (三杯雞), well at least for me it does. 3 cups is actually the sauce that use for cooking this dish, for example soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and added basil leaf, that’s why it named after it.

Variety of meal sets for customers to choose from. They even offer mini Monk Jump Over Wall (迷你佛跳牆), mini steamboat, and so on.

I’ve been there twice, and still find the food there interesting. But I would have to alert all that it’s rather pricey.

Franchise business is now an upcoming trend for many young entrepreneur, you could see many malls out there has many franchise outlets, the famous one are Coffee Bean, Starbucks, Dome, KFC, McDonald, Laksa Shack, etc. Food & Tea Hong Kong Restaurant (歡喜地茶餐廳) is an upcoming one right now, they claimed they are the fast leading Asian Fast Food Restaurant and was established in July 2004, within the 6 years, it was from 1 out to now many outlets, even 1 in Jakarta too.

Food that offers are basically typical Hong Kong specialties, like cheese baked rice, noodles, fried rice, fried noodles and assorted drinks. Food & Tea has opened its door in Gurney Plaza for some time, it’s located in 3rd floor, it occupied from a disc shop which has closed down sometime last year.

From the menu, they have food that is recommended by their chef and also the best selling items. And please be reminded, whatever stated with the best selling items, are easily sold out within the business hour.

I have encountered this problem when I dined yesterday, if the staff are well trained to give their customers a head-up, perhaps the customer could avoid some disappointment in ordering food.

Austin Chase

It was coincident circumstances to find out that Austin Chase is opening a new branch in Penang in Queensbay Mall. The moment I saw this outlet, it gives me a feeling of the movie that I watched before, that familiar sound kind of feeling. Not sure you heard of The Jane Austin Book Club.

I see few tables and chairs lining up nicely in the outlet and also books for customers to read. Isn’t it that looks like Jane Austin Book Club’s movie kind of feel? It was like gather a few friends for a coffee and share what they had read about the book that written by Jane Austin. And also share the thoughts and experience which relates to the book.

Because of that movie it really does give me that feel. Just don’t know why. But whatever it is, that has nothing to do with this Austin Chase outlet.

Almost each outlet be it Starbucks or Coffee Bean will claim that they are having the best coffee bean and the way they roast the beans are special and that makes the coffee smooth. If you’re a coffee lover, basically that is one of important fact for you to taste your cup of coffee. I don’t know about the rest, well, but I do.

Anyway, right now they are under new opening promotion. The terms and conditions are as below –

Their lunch set are range from RM12-90 for Sliced Smoked Turkey Ham, Sliced Chicken Ham and Sliced Tikka Chicken respectively. RM14-90 for Sliced Smoked Salmon, and RM16-90 for Shrimp with Thousand Island Sauce. All sandwiches are comes with chips, Ice Coffee or Ice Tea. They are also have Austin Chase Pasta Specials that’s only RM16-90. You could choose from the choice of Chicken Bolognaise Spaghetti, Beef Bolognaise Spaghetti and Spaghetti Seafood Marinara.

Ingolf’s Kneipe

There are many types of eatery outlet in town, you can name it American food like Chilis, Japanese food, Korean food, etc… and one of it is pretty well known in the Pearl of Orient island is the German food. Ingolf in short has been around in town for a long long time. In fact, the food here is generous in serving and also a nice place to hang out with friends if you’re a beer lover.

All these while what I have thought about German food is sausages, not an ordinary size but a gigantic one. Not only that, but what’s pretty notable are bacons, sausages, meat, pork knuckles.

It was a family gathering recently that opened my eyes about German food that I have been thinking about is not absolutely correct. But however, whether is too meaty or what, it does has it special taste.

Kim Maou Café 和記生魚頭米粉

We were searching for this stall for a long long time and didn’t realize they have actually moved out from The Sky Hotel in Chulia Street and now in Cintra Street. It was a coincident circumstance for us to know actually this stall has actually moved to this coffee shop.

I didn’t know much about this stall history, but, this stall does give me some sweet memories. You know when you are in the courtship, wherever your date brought you, you will definitely remember it. Be it is candle light dinner or street food.

I dare not say the Sar Hor Fun or the Fish Head Bee Hoon is one of the best in town, but, I could see the stream of customers flowing into the shop has never stop.

And only today, I got to know actually this stall was previously from Baling, Kedah states. He used to fry Wanton Mee in his early business, and due to long process in preparing, the boss actually had stopped doing that.

And that leaves us to try on his specialties like Sar Hor Fun, Fish Head Bee Hoon, Fried Yee Mee, or Wan Tan Hor (滑蛋河).

The Fish Head Bee Hoon that he’s serving is different from other stalls. He will not add the oil but leaving it for his customers to add per their preference. In fact, I quite like that, some people do not want an oily bee hoon for dinner.

As for Sar Hor Fun (炒河粉) is definitely fragrant. Fragrant in a sense that it’s full of wok hei. I suppose the fire that controls the wok is absolutely important.

This stall is diagonal opposite Sun Yoon Kee Seafood Restaurant in Cintra Street. And it’s setup in Kim Maou Café.
