2009_11_21 Carnavon Street Duck Rice 002a 2009_11_21 Carnavon Street Duck Rice 001a

I was told this is one of the best Duck Rice in town… and in fact, those that work or stay around the area also reckon the Duck Rice here is the best.

You’ll see people lining up to make their order and people waiting patiently for their order too. From there, you can conclude this is the best!

Each Roast Duck costs about RM36 to RM38, other orders like Char Siew (BBQ Pork 叉燒), Roasted Pork (燒肉), is vary from RM4, 6 to RM8. They used to have Roasted Sausages (燒腸), wonder why they stopped selling now.

Chinoz In The Park

During my last visit in KL, I was sharing with you that without a reservation in any places in Suria KLCC is honestly a big headache for us. Actually Chinoz in the Park was my first choice when I hop into, unfortunately in and out of the restaurant is full of people. I could see people enjoying the environment that’s surrounding the restaurant.

That moment, I asked myself, how could is this place? I knew it wasn’t a right time to hop in without reservation, and true enough they didn’t have any place for us, yet, we gotta wait for about 20 to 30 minutes. And that’s hell lots of time for a hungry person like us.

But today, the 2nd day of the exhibition… we walked back there again. I truly thank god for giving such an opportunity to dine here. Well, I managed to grab a place for lunch and also beautiful scenery too. A table that facing out the park and you could see people bringing their family lingering around in the park, taking photographs and so on.

Seriously we both do not know what’s best down here… but with the pleasant environment that we are dining in, we told ourselves, let’s indulge it.

Well, how much would you indulge yourself when you do not know what to have. Right?

Anyway, I was on noodle or rather spaghetti mood that afternoon, thus I asked for Olio Aglio Pasta which they named it Spaghetti Prima. In fact, the vegetarian version was not mentioned in their menu. But with special request, they could make per order.

Baked Chicken Breast, baked to perfect. It’s crispy outside and the meat is tender and juicy.

Before our meal was served, some bread with butter was served.

Though this is my 1st visit, from here, I could see many of their customers love the wine that they have in house. Wine chiller which is built-in in the restaurant that could obviously been seen. A counter or rather bar where the chef is preparing for their customers’ orders, for example like sushi salad, and so on.

I believe I’ll come back again. A place that’s pleasant and you could enjoy the quality food down here and with a beautiful environment.

Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant 茘苑酒家

During my last visit in KL in October, hubby and I was exhausted and decided to land in this place for our dinner. That trip was basically to accompany hubby, as he has to attend a major exhibition.

We drove down to KL at about 11.45pm, and reached KL at about 3 something, with the traffic jams and so on, basically by the time we checked into our hotel is already 4 something. Settled down, change, and have a glass of water, by the time we reach KL Convention Centre is already 5pm. Thank goodness, we were staying in Traders Hotel which is next to the exhibition hall.

Seriously when you’re down in the hall, you didn’t realize the time was basically passing very fast, what people said it’s true – time flies!

Hubby was definitely excited about the exhibition that he’s longing to visit. By the time we stepped out from the hall, it’s already 8 plus, walked down to KL Suria for food without reservation is honestly a big headache for us.

Lingering around and wondering what to have for dinner, which added the tiredness with what we had from the day. Before we both could discuss what to have for dinner… we both just stepped into this place where we find it familiar to us and to our family too. Before I was armed with camera and owned a blog, we had a family holiday down here. And this was the 1st station for our meal for the day that time.

DSC_0291a DSC_0290a DSC_0287a DSC_0286a

That night, the restaurant is rather quiet, with only few tables occupied. Perhaps the food there has given the customers some doubtful taste? Or the price was the main culprit. After what we had glanced thru the menu, that bounced back to the S with 2 stroke. Ya, that’s right – the dollar sign ‘$’.

Well, for that moment, I told hubby, I just need a chair to sit down and a bowl of rice to fill up my hunger. Without any hesitation, I walked in without hubby nodded his head. I know I know… at times we women are way too much, but yet, don’t you hear this before? Hungry person is an angry person? [LOL]

Anyway, this place as I mentioned it gives fond memories for our family, beside, we were here once too. Thus, it’s not any stranger to us.

That moment we just want to have something fast, and warm to warmth our belly. We just have a quick order on the following dishes.

Spring Onion Venison (薑蔥鹿肉)

Kung Poh Chicken Dice (宮保雞丁)

Stir Fry Vegetables with Garlic (蒜炒時菜)

We both honestly enjoyed the meal and of course not to mention, the food is honestly as good as before.

Shing Kheang Aun Restaurant 新琼安饭店

2009_11_07 SinAunKheng 013a

This place is definitely new to me, despite I heard so much about it.

It was a pleasant evening that hubby wanted to take his parent for a simple meal and also brought them here where they could find their fond memories.

This place has been operated for a long time, even many generations of customers have patronized them without fail.

2009_11_07 SinAunKheng 004a

Mr Ong is friendly and courtesy too… he was the one that recommended these dishes to us. He said for old folks, it’s not advisable to take Vegetable Soup which they have, but Sea Weed Soup with minced pork and fish ball would be the better choice.

2009_11_07 SinAunKheng 009a

Since hubby doesn’t take Pork Liver, he made this to Lean Pork Meat for us. This is Dark Soya Sauce with 5 Spices Powder Meat with Sour Pickles. I find it a bit sweet but it’s definitely delicious to have it with steam rice.

2009_11_07 SinAunKheng 002a

Curry Tumis Fish. I could see almost every table have this. I bet it’s one of the best. True enough, it is indeed.

2009_11_07 SinAunKheng 006a

Bean Curd with Leek is another signature dish that they have. Mr Ong recommended this as this is one of the easy food for old people.

Total bill plus drinks was only RM49.

MonRods Kitchen

2009_10_31 Monrods 002a

When I was first introduced to Malay Nasi Ayam Periuk Besar, I was honestly very skeptical about it. Cuz to me anything without lard and garlic, I doubt it’s delicious, tasty or fragrant.

Well this really proofs me wrong, and I am apologizing to have such judgment on this.

Cuz, you know why? Because their Nasi Ayam Periuk Besar honestly is really really good! I’ll give a big thumb up on it.

2009_10_31 Monrods 023a

I brought hubby there today, and I told him it’s a must to try on their Nasi Ayam (aka Chicken Rice). Especially their chili sauce which is made of turmeric sauce, belachan (shrimp paste), shallots, and tomatoes the goes very well with the chicken.

I was told they are pretty famous in Kedah state, and this is the 1st branch in Penang, and was told another branch in Komtar is coming up too.

What’s their signature? All types of Nasi Ayam! Nasi Ayam Dot Mai, Nasi Ayam Madu (Honey Chicken), Nasi Ayam Panggang (BBQ Chicken), and Nasi Ayam Kampung.

But what’s the best among these four, Dot Mai is the best. In fact, Nasi Ayam Kampung was not available when I dined in, I wonder why.

2009_10_31 Monrods 018a 2009_10_31 Monrods 010a

Here’s the photo of Nasi Ayam Panggang and of course, not to miss….

Nasi Ayam Dot Mai!

Apart from these chickens rice, they also serve Western Food, Noodles and other light snacks.

Western food like Chicken Chop, Black Pepper Chicken Chop, Fish & Chips. Snacks vary from Monrod Cucur Ikan Bilis, Monrod Cucuk Kodok, French Fries, Fish Nuggets, Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Sausages.

All items are value for money, and with the current economy and also Penangites’ preference, this isn’t a bad place to consider.

Franchise business and fast food is every where in town, but to find something good and value for money, that’s something hard to come by.

I know many consumers will give such remarks,… but we have this right here in Butterworth in Sunway Carnival Mall. A place where you could find good food as in economical and delicious, as well as value for money too. Why would I say that? Cuz, many of us here are only an employee, money is getting hard to earn nowadays. Therefore looking for value for money food is not easy to come by as I said earlier.

Thanks to Taufulo & CK, who arranged this review for us, and with this now we know where to get such ‘value for money’ food in town. Yes, Kim Tavern is in Sunway Carnival Mall. And it is just located opposite 600CC at the Lower Ground.

Seriously, food range is a lot for people to choose, price range from RM15-90 the most expensive one to RM6-90 the cheapest. And mind you, RM15-90 is Black Pepper Steak, so where can you find such cheap steak for a meal? Right?

Variety of drinks, from fruit juices down to ice blended smoothies. All types of drinks that make you lost your mind in choosing your favourite. Do not believe me?
