Shanghai Ding House 上海鼎, New World Park

There’s no plan for lunch yesterday, at first, hubby’s friend was thinking to take us for Nyonya cuisine and I was not really want to have any spicy and sour food for now. Thus, we were thinking why don’t we go for Deluxious Spa Cuisine that is located in Northam Road. Unfortunately they were closed for 2nd and 3rd Monday.

Therefore, we were taking our time to drive around and look for food. Since we were around Burmah Road, so, we hopped into New World Park.

It’s been awhile I didn’t explore the eatery outlet in New World Park. Nothing has changed, except I realize they now have Shanghai Ding House, which Rasa Malaysia had blogged about.

This is our first time here, so, it was a bit of doubtful when we wanted to order some food. The waitress did not recommend anything except the dumpling. With that, we ordered 2 sets, one is purely meat and the other is scallop dumplings.

I guess I still prefer Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao (翡翠拉面小笼包) in Jalan Bukit Bintang.

Anyway, the 2 gentlemen ordered porridge for themselves. One had fish and hubby had century egg and salted egg lean meat porridge.

As for me, I got myself a steam rice with assorted Chinese sausages, which I don’t the taste is towards my liking.

We also ordered a plate of prawn roll and Siu Mai and China Kai Lan (vegetable).

Last, that’s what they called it dessert, the Chinese version scone which our friend claimed it, it’s actually the Custard Bun.

All and all, we had spent around RM60 for lunch. To you consider this expensive? I don’t know, but taste wise, it wasn’t up to my expectation.

from the looks of it, not really so presentable eh? New World Park is slowly getting more and more commercialized. Wonder when will the ABC turn into premium items? :)

I didn't think that this is nice too. Dragon-i's is still better than Ding but my don't know why my dad loves the Ding.
The dim sum don't look very good. where do u find the best popiah in Penang? i am crazy bout that n the last time we were in Penang I had it for b'fast' lunch n dinner!
Hi Ling239, ya la! how could they serve, hor?

Hi j2kfm, New World Park meant to be commercialized, dont they?

Hi Nicholas, I don't really like Dragon-i or Shanghai Ding. I guess I prefer the one that I mentioned in KL. Crystal Jade.

Hi a feast, everyday, popiah in Penang??? errrr... I can tell where do find good popiah in Ipoh but not in Penang. I still can't find a good one yet.

Haven't tried both outlets...and by reading this, I wonder if it's still worth a try. Dragon-i is good but prices has increased.

Shang-Hai Ding and Dragon-i both serve the dumpling...

the taste, both done it well.. but in term of design... i mean the dumpling out look, Dragon-i had slight advantage...

why.. if u see it carefully.. u will find the node on the top of dumpling...

dragon-i make it in such a way that u are able to hold them using chopstick.. but ShangHai Ding not...

But u shud try to kuih landak.... the tiny porcupine.. it is sooo cute.....

The one we went to is the one near Queensbay Mall

That Deluxious Spa Cuisine sounds intriguing. So patrons get to languish in hot pools while eating?

Hey there,

I have told my sponsor about your recent visit. They apologised for the hole in one of the dumplings as sometimes new waiter/waitress tend to not pay attention to small details. :P

Every time I am back in Penang, I usually pay them a visit and the food is always decently good to me. Dragon-I is SOOOOO expensive and food is really not that much better!

Next time I go back to Penang, I bring you there, I can tell you what to order, hehe.

Thanks for linking to me.
