Ang Hoay Loh 紅火爐

Ang Hoay Loh (紅火爐) is not a strange place for many Penangites. Even those had worked in Penang or studied in Penang before will some how re-visit this place again. Well, why then?? Simple, reason is because of the acquire taste of the food served and it’s Hokkien Cuisine. Bear in mind, Penang is an island with almost 70% Hokkiens. Right?

I brought my parents to this place few weeks ago, which my dad brought us to Ang Hoay Loh when it was in Brick Klin Road (Jalan Gurdwara) some donkey years ago. It’s a place reminds them for taking us there for dinner and lunch, and also the special taste that they like.

Since it’s only 4 of us, we didn’t get to order a lot of food. Most important, what mom loves most is their Bak Ki. I supposed this is a Lean Pork & Prawns Soup.

And not to miss their famous Fried Glass Noodles. It was full of prawns and oysters. And this is something that I’ve not eaten for a long long time. Just loving this.

Pan Fried Oysters Egg (蠔煎). Though this cannot compare to other famous stall, but seriously, it’s good too.

And some greens, Stir Fry Hong Kong Kai Lan with Garlics. (芥蘭清炒)

The food was nothing to complain about, the only thing is the waiting time. Almost 30 to 40 minutes waiting time. Well, what to do,… my old folks like this place.

Very thoughtful...the circle comes around. I love to take my folks to where they took me when I was young. And they still pay for it most times (from the allowance we gave them) and not wanting to fight for the bill, to give them a sense of worth and value.

Hi Duckie, yup!

Hi CK, you're right. Relatives from other states also have listed this is a MUST visit place.

Hi Food Paradise, pls do. It's nice.

Hi Tummythoz, they didnt' move. The original branch is still there at Brick Klin Road.

Hi WorldWindows, it's always like that...

Hi Cariso, so, when will you be sharing?

Hi Steven, if am not mistaken is < RM60. Cheap or expensive?

Hi LY Tai, the main branch in Brick Klin Road still there, this is a branch.

Hi Mummy in Vain, this place only exist for about 5 to 6 years. Think the one that you visited is either in Rangoon Road or Brick Klin Road.
