The Eighty Eight Restaurant

2012_09_28 88 Restaurant 097a
Whenever there’s a new restaurant or café in town, I will either patronize it with hubby, family or friends. But, lately I have found a bunch a new ‘friends’ aka my managers. They are bunch of food lovers, and they know I am good in looking for food, thus, they have never have any doubt on me for recommending them any place for lunch or dinner.

The Eighty Eight Restaurant is a new place that I brought them to, a very ordinary place with no attractive signboard (except the bright orange sign) and also parking is a constraint to the customers. But food wise, it’s definitely recommended, and price wise is reasonable too.

I remember very clearly that whenever we drove passed this place, I was telling hubby that we should step foot in here, and all because of the outlook of the restaurant, it did not give him any confident that this place will be something special.

It was a farewell dinner that we host for our dear colleague. And, it was also a dinner with full of laughter. Laughter as in 5 that were born in Kedah state over 1 from Perak state. Laughter as in me that is bugging them on work, on deadline, etc. Laughter is the best medicine to cure the stress at work and is the best bonding wire to bond our friendship… what can we ask for more from this group of friends?

When we opened up the menu, we could laugh over it. Cuz, first thing came to our mind was let’s order all of these and share out. Even some food that cooked with wine or alcohol, we were just wouldn’t careless, we just want to enjoy the food, and the company though this is a farewell dinner.

After all, when we look back, we are glad that we were colleagues, we were working mate, and we were supporting each other during the crisis. Even after anyone of us left, we can still call each other out for a meal, for a drink or even for a coffee. I believe such bonding is something money can’t buy.

Agua Mediterranean Cuisine

Straits Quay is surely a place to visit, a place for a drink, and a place for good food. On our recently special occasion, we spent a simple dinner down there. It’s our first visit and also it was a very sweet one. Though half way thru it was pouring heavily, we could hear the wind howling, and the rain drops were fiercely hit on the windows and glass door. But still that did not spoil our dinner, despite that heavy down pour.

Since it’s a simple yet a quality time spent together, the food that we have also the simplest too. What is that not so simple for the night, I wonder?!

Set meal is always hearty and also filing, I guess that’s only applied to small eater. And set meal is always the worth for the money kind of meal, be it everywhere you go, it’s always the case. What comes with Agua Mediterranean down here, was pretty impressive.

Spicy Sweet Pepper & Tomato Soup with Croutons, served hot. Would anyone want to try if they are serving cold soup? In fact, there is such soup in the entire area over in Europe.

Fillet of Fish Tunise (fish in Tunisian Style with Spices, Herbs & Lemon)

Dessert is something that I always see it from the Asian Food Channel, Oranges in Caramel with Red Wine Sauce. This is cooked in Red Wine, Cinnamon & Cloves. It’s a special acquired taste, only if you like the taste of cloves. However, it’s a good experience to try out.

Apart from the set meal that I’d mentioned above, they do too have A la Carte service as well.

Mixed Mushroom Paprika, tarragon & cream served on toast (RM19.90) is appetizing and tasty. In fact, it’s simple that we could make one for breakfast also.

Sometimes if you can’t afford for any fine dining dinner for a special occasion, Agua Mediterranean Cuisine Restaurant is another better choice too. At least it has the cozy environment for anyone to enjoy their food.

Cassis Restaurant

2010_09_16 Cassis 061a 2010_09_16 Cassis 043a

Sometimes having a half dozen of fresh oysters for lunch is rather luxury and indulges. But then if we think positively, take it as it’s a reward after a hard work, or a reward after of difficult job or a date with your love one, probably you will think that’s not that luxury after all.

Well, I gotta think about that when I foot the bill for this splendid lunch for my loved one and myself. It’s the time that we spent together and the ‘project’ that we work together. I always tell my girlfriends or even my sisters, once in awhile, you gotta foot the bill, doesn’t mean you pay for that it means you’re stronger than the man. It’s something that you’re pampering him after a hard day work in the office or something else. It’s a way of compromising each other short fall or strengths in the day to day life or rather our marriage.

Coming another year, would be our 10th anniversary. I do have a wild idea, but honestly I don’t think I could do it all by myself without him sponsoring me. But whatever it is, it’s the 10 years that we both that had gone thru, whether the sweet moments, the tears, the downfall, the quarrel or mourning moments.

Lately we both have been dragged down by the project that we are working on, that’s something that is once in a life time you will face it. When you could see the entire object is nearly complete it’s finishing stage, you will tend to be very release and happy about the hard work and the time, and the thought that you’d spent on it.

Saying about that… I know many couples are happy hanging on with such projects and such work that husband and wife that could work on together. Of course, no one would want to have dictated another for what they want. The more you learn, you will agree with me that it’s a truly a special knowledge and experience to gain. It has never been easy to learn to compromise, to understand, and to respect to another person whom is brought up in a different way with you.

Cassis… a place where I made known from CK’s post, a place we both will know we will definitely step foot in it whether spontaneously or plan. No doubt this place is rather cozy and it’s a nice place for friends that enjoying food could hang out together. Though, it’s a lunch date that we had, whether it’s romantic or not, I guess it’s all from the heart.
