The Living Room Tea Break

Know what… Before I prepared for the Christmas Eve dinner, hubby and I were searching for a place for a Wi-Fi service. And guess what, we found The Living Room in Westin KL.
I’d just loved this place… so convenient, so good, so nice… unfortunately, not many have the customer courtesy like Mandarin Oriental.
Anyway, just a short sharing on a tea break that we had down here.
Hub have chrysanthemum tea for himself.
Where I have a cup of brew coffee, well, nothing to shout about, and normally I do need some caffeine to boost up my mind.
Hubby ordered something extra, spring roll. I’ll not encourage anyone to try this cuz, it was extremely oily. Perhaps they were rushing of time as they were all busy decorating the place for Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner.

Traditional English Afternoon Tea, The 1885 E&O Hotel

If you notice some contractor workers or even carpenters in Penang, they will go for an afternoon break like 3pm. Hong Kong people will say it ‘Har Ng Char’ (下午茶) and have a toast (油多士) or a cup of tea with milk (奶茶).

And what has other been practising? What has British practised then? Have you heard of English Afternoon Tea?? I’ve heard a lot, and never have a chance to try it. Last weekend was a spontaneous decision to have Traditional English Afternoon Tea. Instead of baking scone, making sandwiches, I told hubby 1885 in E&O Hotel has such offer and it’s starting from 2.30pm to 5.00pm about RM38++ per pax.

1885 is a place where it has its cosy environment & atmosphere, a nice place for a small gathering with friends, a romantic place for a wedding proposal.

Anyway, hubby and I were just wanted to try out the Afternoon Tea in 1885, we both were just walked in without making any reservation. Upon entering the place, we already saw 2 tables of guests down there, and the waiter was nice and polite handed us the tea menu.

Since am not a tea lover, and I was being conservative, is best to have an Earl Gray Tea in case I don’t like the others which they are offering like Mango Taste Tea, Jasmine Tea, Peppermint Tea, Camomile Tea, etc. Where as hubby was having Camomile Tea, he finds it soothing and fragrant too.

The choice of finger food that they have is Butter Milk Scones and Fruit Scones with Strawberry Jam and Clotted Cream.

The 2nd layer platter is assorted of sandwiches like Smoke Salmon, Tuna and Cucumber & Dill.

Follow by a plate of assorted cakes like carrot cakes, chocolate moist cakes, fruit cakes, cream puffs, chocolate cookies, and blueberry cakes.

Though everything is tiny and wee, it is kind of filling too.

The cup and saucer which they were serving was unique and nice. Some British senses which I see… it was a lovely afternoon that we both had spent.

The Loaf, Langkawi

Japanese baking has evolved over many centuries and now these delicious premium breads and pastries are available in Malaysia. Developed by award-winning Japanese Master Baker, Chef Yukichi Matsubara all items produced in the Loaf are made daily from the finest imported ingredients.

While many are available as take-away items others can be consumed in the restaurant. The Loaf also offers a full á la carte lunch and dinner menu for those who appreciate international cuisine served in a relaxed ambience.

Start the day with the aroma of freshly-brewed coffee and tasty breads and pastries hot from The Loaf’s ovens. Afternoon teas are also specialty of The Loaf.

The Loaf is situated along Perdana Quay facing the colourful Telaga Harbour Marina. The picturesque setting with Mount Machincang as a backdrop is one of the island’s most popular tourist destinations. Luxury yachts line the waterfront and several restaurants, cafes and bars combine with The Loaf to provide a lively place to enjoy a delicious meal or snack.

Located just 15 minutes drive from the airport. The Loaf is also a popular stop for visitors travelling to the Langkawi Cable Car, Telaga Tujuh Waterfall and the resorts around Buray Bay. ~ The Loaf, Langkawi

With the above illustrated content, am sure you will have the urge of trying how good The Loaf is.

First day arriving to Langkawi, after checked in to our hotel The Westine Langkawi Resort & Spa, we both actually hired a rental car and drove around in the island. Driving around in Langkawi will not be a problem for hubby as he’s been visiting Langkawi many many times. This is my 3rd visit after 8 years, I could see lots of developments in Langkawi. And many things have changed in Langkawi… lots of seafood restaurants, lots of luxury resorts, and lots of yacht harbours too.
I’ve heard a lot about The Loaf, and never had a chance to try it. Thus, The Loaf is one of our destinations to visit. Driving all the way from Kuah Town (where the hotel located) to Pantai Kok, honestly is a quite a long way. But, with the beautiful scenery along the way and less traffics, the drive was pretty enjoying. I could see padi fields, buffaloes, cows, goats,… the typical old time Malay kampong life style. It was so relaxing.
When we reached Pantai Kok, lots of luxury yachts sitting along the harbours, that scene was so perfect with a cup of coffee and a slice of bread from the oven. The ambience is so good and I really have no words to describe it.
Though we reached the place is rather late, but it didn’t stop us from getting our late lunch. Both of us ordered a cup of hot chocolate and a cup of café latte respectively, and some breads first while waiting for our ‘main dish’.
Hubby loves croissant a lot, unfortunately they had sold out for the day. But, they recommended their The Loaf’s Club Sandwich to hubby. The sandwich comes with slices of bread that filled with eggs, chicken and beef bacon, which accompanied by salads and tomato slices. Since we both can’t take beef, they made him more chicken meat with their special salad sauce.
As for me, I have myself a Smoked Salmon Bagel, a few slices of smoked salmon dressed with mustard mayonnaise on salad and a sprinkle of capers over a bagel. It was marvelous and delicious!
What can I say more with these mouthwatering breads!!?? Mama Mia!!!

Edelweiss Café

Edelweiss!
Because of this name and Lilian blogged about it before, it caught my attention to go forward for further exploration. There’s a song on Edelweiss, and this song is actually The Sound of Music soundtrack. It was sung by a widower of the Trapp Family.
Anyway, let’s not talk about that Edelweiss but this Edelweiss Café. If you love antique stuff, regardless the building, furniture, iron, clock, tiffin, etc this is the right place for you. Or, if you are looking for some information on Penang Island, well, here is the place for you too.

Append below are some shots that I took from Edelweiss Café. While I was busy snapping, hubby was busy ordering food. He’s more glutton than me.In there you could see some greeneries and that really made everyone feels so environmental friendly.
When I was taking this shot, one of the guess with lots of grey hair was telling me, ‘Young lady, you should take this shot!’. I was wondering why, then, this uncle said, ‘Stand here, this is the right spot, and look up, … Yeah, this is the one of the best shot!’.
Ta da… ‘It ought to give a lesson to all the male on how to use a toilet’. That’s exactly what the uncle told me. Funny leh???It was a neither odd time for dinner nor tea time. So, hubby didn’t really order anything heavy. But he ordered this Benggali Toast. A cheese slide with some onions sprinkles on top and toast. Something nice and simple and filling too with a cup of coffee, This is one of the luxury tea time that we ever have.
