Louis Café

If your name is Louis, the more you should visit this Louis Café at Argyll Road. A café that’s only open barely 2 months old, and it’s managed by Madam Teoh whom has a thought of having her own restaurant and cater for friends and business associates to get to enjoy the food and her companion too.

She has a great passion in making lots of friends, and by doing so, she also loves to invite friends for a meal and for a chat too. With that in mind that’s how she has Louis Café.

On Sunday 8th February, Penang Flogger Community had invited for a food review, I was invited too, unfortunately I was having a bad cough thus I was not able to join the group. However, with much anticipation from the group’s review, without 2nd thought, hubby and I went there after work yesterday.

When we were handed the menu, honestly, we were really have no idea what to choose. Madam Teoh was attentive and she came forward and recommended a few for us too.

I was pretty attracted by the Scallop Salad that appears in the menu, and it’s only costs RM20 with 4 to 5 pieces of scallop and with the dash of mango salsas on top of it.

My main course is Spaghetti Arrabiata that is pasta with chili, slices bacon, and assorted wild mushroom in spicy tomato sauce. It costs RM16 which I find it reasonable.

Hubby opted the Set Dinner which is only RM26 with comprises of Soup of the Day, Appetizer, Choice of Main Course, Dessert and either Soft Drinks of Fresh Fruit Juice.

Soup of the Day is Pumpkin Soup. Hubby loves it as it’s creamy and with a few of the almond flakes and it really accommodate to the taste.

Appetizer is Garden Greens with Thousand Island Salad Cream.

Choice of Main Course, hubby chose Chicken Cutlet. A crispy at the outer layer and a tender juicy inside. I actually fell in love with this, though he chose black pepper, but I find it incredibly nice without the sauce.

Last dessert, single scoop of ice cream. It was something nice and sweet to end a meal.

It is still few days more for Valentine Day, and Louis Café also introduce a V-day Special Menu for all the loving couple who like to celebrate this special day with their love one. If you’re looking longevity in the relationship, Louis Café is the place for you. Valentine Day Menu only RM99 per couple, and if you’re lucky enough, you’ll get a 10% off for 1st 15 couples.

Apart from that, they are also serving Set Lunch and Dinner daily with different sets of menu. And also serves snacks and Asian Delights.

Kim Hee Chinese Restaurant 金禧樓冷氣海鮮酒家

For those that working in other states, normally will be back to their home on 3rd day of Chinese New Year, that’s why mom was suggesting let’s eat out for the day.

Since most of the famous restaurant in town is either fully booked or yet to open for business, we decided to give it a try in this Kim Hee Restaurant which is located in Bandar Sunway Seberang Jaya where it nears Sunway Carnival Mall.

Salmon Yee Sang is a must since it’s new year still. I particularly like this picture, don’t know why, probably you could see people happily Lou Sang. If am not mistaken I remember Lingzie had something like this before.

Other dishes that came along after the Yee Sang is Curry Fish Head, which is the best among the rest that we’ve ordered. The curry paste was extremely spicy and aromatic smell too.

Steam Cod Fish for the kids. Nicely done up… the kids just loved it.

Stir Fry Venison Meat with Spring Onions.

Pipa Chicken (琵琶雞) which is a replica of Pipa Duck (琵琶鴨). This dish was suck! The sauce was too sweet, and it didn’t blend well with the chicken. In fact, we made a complaint to the captain when she came to our table and asked how are the dishes and all that. Guess what… there’s a complimentary dessert after the complaint.

After all that… the complimentary dessert here it comes… Peanut Paste Dessert (花生糊) and Chinese Pancake (鍋餅). Some may find the soup is little too sweet, but to me if dessert is not sweet enough it ain’t call it dessert anymore, right? Personally loves it, but it obviously can’t compete those typical authentic Cantonese or Chinese Restaurant way of doing it. Anyway, who cares, it’s a complimentary dessert!!

大年初二, 開年飯 2nd day of Chinese New Year

大年初二是娘家裡頭最忙的一天。因為年初一一过，嫁出门去的女儿们就會纷纷帶着丈夫和孩子回娘家過年。

這一天, 我媽很早醒來準備燒菜, 看著她忙這忙那, 我們幾個姊妹也跟著下手幫忙。新年裡頭尤其年初二爸媽一定要我們盛(飯)，添(菜), 他們說那是好意頭。那我們就聽從老人家吧!

這一天媽燒的菜好豐富, 有雞有魚有肉有蝦。讓我來介紹我們廣東台山新寧的新年菜殽吧。

Reunion Dinner @ Vistana Hotel

Though times are bad, but you will see lots of people eating out instead of having reunion at home. I hope that’s the sign of helping the economy, however, from these years you could see many Chinese restaurants are actually opening up for biz on New Year’s Eve. As far as I know, restaurants like Forum Chinese Cuisine Restaurant in Island Plaza is opening, East Hakkaido Seafood Restaurant that located in Jalan Bagan Jermal is opening too. Those years, only hotels’ Chinese restaurant will cater for such needs, but now, you could see times are bad, people are even opening up for such occasion.

My in law are old to cater for a major reunion for the family, thus these years, the sons decided to eat out instead of having the hassle at home. This year, we have arranged it in Vistana Hotel located in Bukit Jambul.

When we were told to dine in Vistana, first thought was has Vistana Hotel has any Chinese restaurant?? Never thought they could arrange it in a ballroom with all tables setup nicely.

Anyway, when comes to Chinese New Year package, nothing could missed out the Chinese Yee Sang. This is always the first dish. Sorry didn’t manage to take any picture as was busy eating. [LOL]
