Tao Authentic Asian Cuisine, Auto City

Tao Authentic Asian Cuisine – when we first saw this name, I heard the services was lousy, food was expensive. However, a year later, they opened a branch in Auto City, Juru. So, you could imagine how good or lousy of their services?

I have never been to this place, due to the above mentioned. But, why am I here this time? Well, out of curiosity that’s why am here, second reason is a free treat from family, so, why not, huh?
[haha, that’s the main reason]

When I entered this place, first word from me was a ‘Wow!’. Just look at these pictures… it’s nicely decorated into a Balinese design, it was so cozy to dine in here. They even have man-made lagoon, water fall, and so on.

This is the only outlet which has a lounge where you could have a glass of beer after you have your meal on the other side.

Total 8 of us, we were just ordered, ordered and ordered. The waitress that took our order kept reminding us that every wastage of 100gram will be charged RM10. We were just looked at her and smiled. Cuz, these are the bunch of glutton here, how could have wastage? [grin]

Look at what we have ordered…

Hot & spicy scallop
Assorted sashimi
Assorted sushi
Tempura
Seafood teppanyaki
Pan grilled lamb (wonder why Japanese food has something so western)
Curry lamb
Salads
California rolls
Cawanmushi
Unagi maki
Pan grilled salmon
Cold soba
Last… Papaya Salmon

Which we do not know what is it, but the waitress kept recommending this to us. Well, since this is highly recommended, we gave it a try.

Oh ya, did I tell you that orange juice & green tea are free flow?

Shanghai Ding House 上海鼎, New World Park

There’s no plan for lunch yesterday, at first, hubby’s friend was thinking to take us for Nyonya cuisine and I was not really want to have any spicy and sour food for now. Thus, we were thinking why don’t we go for Deluxious Spa Cuisine that is located in Northam Road. Unfortunately they were closed for 2nd and 3rd Monday.

Therefore, we were taking our time to drive around and look for food. Since we were around Burmah Road, so, we hopped into New World Park.

It’s been awhile I didn’t explore the eatery outlet in New World Park. Nothing has changed, except I realize they now have Shanghai Ding House, which Rasa Malaysia had blogged about.

This is our first time here, so, it was a bit of doubtful when we wanted to order some food. The waitress did not recommend anything except the dumpling. With that, we ordered 2 sets, one is purely meat and the other is scallop dumplings.

I guess I still prefer Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao (翡翠拉面小笼包) in Jalan Bukit Bintang.

Anyway, the 2 gentlemen ordered porridge for themselves. One had fish and hubby had century egg and salted egg lean meat porridge.

As for me, I got myself a steam rice with assorted Chinese sausages, which I don’t the taste is towards my liking.

We also ordered a plate of prawn roll and Siu Mai and China Kai Lan (vegetable).

Last, that’s what they called it dessert, the Chinese version scone which our friend claimed it, it’s actually the Custard Bun.

All and all, we had spent around RM60 for lunch. To you consider this expensive? I don’t know, but taste wise, it wasn’t up to my expectation.

Ribs BarBQue Restaurant

Nobody would find this Ribs BBQ Restaurant that located in Burmah Road strange, and many have had blogged about it too.

Hubby and I were thinking what to have for dinner when we decided to eat out on one of the week day. I was thinking to dine in Ribs BarBQue Restaurant at that moment and was wondering should I tell hubby that. Reason for not letting him know is because that place is kind of pricey. Knowing him, he’ll definitely say yes to me, cuz, he will try his best for not letting his wife down.

This isn’t our first visit in fact; we had visited this place some time ago. I didn’t post it because that time never thought to be one of those blogger. Well, it isn’t too late to be one right now, isn’t it? *grin*

What’s famous obviously their barbeque ribs… regardless spare ribs, baby back ribs, or smoked ribs.

Of course, what’s attracts me to go back is their barbeque baby back ribs.

Without 2nd thought I got myself a barbeque baby back ribs, with sweet corns and garlic mashed potato as side dishes.

While hubby wanted to make his choice, the outlet manager was actually recommend smoked gammon ribs. Since we have not tried this before, so, hubby gave it a try.

Hubby can never ever give up garlic bread, where ever he sees garlic bread in the menu, he’ll sure get one for himself. And this costs about $8.00.

Our damage for that night costs us about $96.15, of which baby back ribs and gammon ribs are costs $34.80 respectively.

I find that the standard of the ribs was satisfying. And I know there are couple of comments that left in BM Kia’s blog weren’t that agreeable. I guess this is based on individual preference. Comparatively with Chicago Rib House in Auto City, I guess Ribs Barbque Restaurant stands a better review.
However, both visits to this place, still find that not many people are there. Was it because of the location or the price?

Yakiteppan

Had lunch in Yakiteppan today with my ex-colleague whom just retired recently. We were supposed to go for a birthday lunch today, unfortunately the birthday girl wasn’t feeling well. So, ended up only 3 of us meeting up for ‘makan’.

We had a brief and quick one in Yakiteppan today, not that very much we wanted to dine there, it’s all because of the Hakka Noodle didn’t open for business today. Thus, we have no other alternative, might as well give it a try in Yakiteppan.

In fact, 3 of us have not been going to Yakiteppan for quite some time. Reason didn’t really want to go there, is because there are many FTZ people dine in. And, you will bounce into friends in that area. Another reason, you didn’t want to have extra ‘perfume’ after meal.

Oh ya, why with all the extra ‘perfume’. Cuz, this is a teppanyaki eatery outlet, thus, they named themselves Yakiteppan. J

Honestly they have many varieties now and I noted that many are cook in teriyaki sauce. Only one or two items are grill, and few items of sushi, and sashimi.
This is the only eatery outlet that I notice, using a silver chopstick and a plastic spoon. Thought Japanese culture do not have spoon for meal?

Look at the plates… before I remember to take pictures of the salads, and appetizers, here it is now.

Here are the main dishes that we have…

Teppanyaki Fish

Teppanyaki Fish & Chicken

Teppanyaki Sabah Fish, Prawns & Chicken

Err…. How will I review this? If you’re looking for affordable teppanyaki or Japanese food; this isn’t that bad to have. Of course, I noted all dishes are a bit salty.

So, enjoy!

Mother's Day Dinner - Chicago Rib House

When comes to May, you could see many commercial ads around... free a stalk of carnation if you dine with your mother... free a glass of fruit punch if you dine now and when... and all kinds of promotions to promote Mother's Day.

When I make the reservation for tonight's dinner, I never know there's a stalk of carnation given to all the mothers tonight and tomorrow, and free a glass of fruity punch.

There were 8 of us having dinner with our mother at Chicago Rib House in Auto City, where we came here sometime last year. This time, I can see more crowd own here, and the service is attentive too.

The last time we came, we had the original ribs, but this time, my BIL ordered BBQ spare ribs with other side orders. And it seems this turns out to be pretty good.
My sis had Fish and Chips. One of the reason is it’s not that filling, second reason the young little one can have our share of portion. But, by looking at the serving, that’s big, isn’t it?

Parents still go for their favourite, the Original Ribs, and they have got themselves a bowl of wild mushroom soups for appetizer.

As for my brother and his fiancé, they both were sharing a plate of deep fried shrimps with coleslaw and broccoli as side dishes. Well, reason is simple, as they are about to get married, thus, they both need to on diet. :-D

Another sis of mine was adventurous enough to try on this new dish, it's pan fried Dory Fish, and it's a bit of spicy. She likes it very much... it was something special she says.

Confinement Food

Boar kidney (豬腰) stir fried with gingers and sesame oil is one of the confinement food for those under confinement treatment.

If one did not clean properly on those kidneys, that kind of urinate smell is horrible. I know whenever my mom did this for me, she will normally soak these kidneys into the salt water for a night and cut off its nerves and again use salt water wash it again and again.

Cut gingers into tiny slim slices, and mom says it has to be “old” ginger. Elderly said those gingers could eliminate whatever cold air in our body after labour, some said this dish could actually warm the stomach, and the womb as well.

Heat up sesame oil, and stir fry gingers till it fragrant. Add those kidneys into the wok and stir fry again, add dark soya sauce, salt to taste and not to forget half bowl of a normal rice bowl of brandy or XO (liquor). Reason for that is to have a good blood circulation.

If one likes ginger a lot, could add as much as possible. But many doctors would not encourage especially for those practise breast feed.
Second dish that mom did for me was long beans stir fry with black fungus and lean meat.

Whatever mommy did for me was basically will add a bit of liquor, she kept telling that could have better blood circulation.

Miraku, G Hotel

When I started to write this post, it reminds me of my pregnancy period. Cuz, this is one of the place that I visited when I was pregnant. Every time after check up hubby will take me a for walk or even a simple lunch before I go home. And, all these while I have the tendency for not having any strong aroma food, for example garlic, Chinese celery, spring onions, shallots, onions and so on.

I have been wanted to try this Miraku in G Hotel. First is because many times company organized dinner at this place, second is because apart from Japanese food, basically I have nothing to eat. Oh yes, people said pregnant woman has their own taste bud, and some could take fish and some couldn’t kind of story. To my surprise, I could take Unagi. What put me a stop is basically those with aromatic smell like garlic, onions, shallots, etc.

Anyway, I ordered a Unagi Set for myself, and hubby ordered a Chicken Set. In fact, there is nothing different as both came with salads, cawanmushi, dessert, vegetables and appetizer.

Do you realize, the vegetables that they served do come with a fish ball? I was wondering at that time, but didn’t bother to ask, cuz, at that time, mommy was hungry like hell.
