Sesame

Picture

A revisit to this Chinese Fusion Fine Dining Restaurant that is located at the 2nd floor of G Hotel, and its named Sesame.

I’ve been here before, and if you remember we’d good time down there many years ago. It was a good experience for us and our family.

This visit is merely company’s event that we organized, and this is the place that we chose to appreciate our colleagues for the past one year hardship.

It was a Scavenger Hunt that our department organized and the final destination is right here at Gurney Plaza, conveniently the dinner that adjourns the teambuilding would be at G Hotel.

Price range down from RM66 to RM128, we chose the RM118 menu that consists of sumptuous food like caviar, lobster, abalone, etc.

Doesn’t that sound interesting? Yup, and I just mentioned abalone and caviar.

1st dish that served was Sichuan Chilled Smoked Duck (四川煙鴨青瓜柱), jelly fish stuffed with tuna mayo, served in Japanese cucumber ring.

2nd dish was Shanghainese Golden Broth (上海黃燜乾貝翅), basically shark’s fin, crab roe and black caviar on a golden broth. This is absolutely elegant, and delegate to me.

3rd dish was Hunan Style Baby Lobster (湖南乾煎小龍蝦), it’s a simmered with garlic and spicy bean sauce marinated lobster. It was utterly yummy yummy!!

4th dish was Baked Cod Fish (巧手叉燒焗銀鱈), marinated with char-siew sauce then baked. Steamed French beans and deep fried herbs as deco. Some how I don’t find this well go with the cod fish, perhaps it should be either lightly pan fried or lightly baked.

5th is what they named it Golden Fried Rice (XO鮑仔黃金炒飯), cubes of baby abalone, fried with XO sauce and added salmon roe as deco.

Last but not least… not to miss the dessert, Green Tea Tiramis (綠茶伴提拉米蘇) and Soya-Apple Ice Cream. Since this is a Chinese Fusion Fine Dining, I would expect something like Chinese Dessert. Anyway, it wasn’t that bad, it’s smooth unfortunately it wasn’t that chilled when it serves.

Oh yes, before I end this post, would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year... Cuz, today is a Spring Day and to the traditional customs, this is the day that a new year is begin!

薑汁撞奶 Ginger Milk Curd

Ginger Milk Curd or other will call this ginger milk pudding. It’s a traditionally Chinese dessert that originated from Panyu. It’s a dessert that easy to make but of course it has its level of difficulties for beginner like me and my sis.

Reason for us to make this is because this is something not worth the money for like RM5 to RM9, it’s only a few dollars of ingredients and it can be made for many friends and family member.

Know what… I actually planned to look for this shop when I got to know from WMW’s post. I was searching here and there and couldn’t find it, ended up; I landed in Wing Heng Seng Coffee Shop. While we were about to get up and leave the place, I accidentally saw the shop and upset that we just had a heavy breakfast. But hubby was grumbling to me that that he didn’t have enough but hope to get some snack.

Well, being a blogger you will persuade your other half to try out and take the opportunity to take photo, right? I was having that thought and hubby could really know me well, he was very spontaneous and brings me there for another round of breakfast.

When we enter the shop, I could see WMW’s post every where… if am not mistaken it was on StarOnline as well.

Now, here’s the bowl of Ipoh Sar Hor Fun with Prawn Sui Kow.

Soup base is fragrant, I supposed they have boiled it for long hours, the flat noodles is soft and smooth.

With the prawns, chicken slice and some chives on top of the noodle that makes the bowl of hor fun lovely and tempting.

Prawn Sui Kow was fresh and the meat was tender, I could feel the springy of the prawns. So, how could it be wrong that the prawns are not fresh then, right??

2009_12_26 Pou Kee 004a 2009_12_26 Pou Kee 005a

The bowl of hor fun could be accompanied by 2 types of chilies, either chili paste or chopped chili.
Now looking at these pictures, remind me of the bowl of hor fun at this time of hour. :)
Gee, I just miss that…

Wing Heng Seng Coffee Shop 永興成茶餐室

To find good food in KL though outstation people may find it hard, but for local they will say that’s not true. For a Penangite like me without a GPS, I normally remember each place by heart.

2009_12_26 Wing Heng Imbi 013a

Just take this as example… many years ago, I took my family down to KL for a break, and that time we were lingering around town and don’t know what to eat. Ended up we landed at this place. Yes, this place – Wing Heng Seng Coffee Shop in Jalan Imbi.

2009_12_26 Wing Heng Imbi 006a

I remember clearly most of us took the soup version of Pork Noodle, thus this time round I took the same for myself. When I looked at my bowl of noodle, I could feel satisfactory before eating it. Reason?? Oh, that’s simple, look at the medium rare cooked liver just make me drool over it!

2009_12_26 Wing Heng Imbi 009a 2009_12_26 Wing Heng Imbi 010a

Hubby was looking around other tables, and he noticed, mostly have another type of Pork Noodle, which he noticed, there are some Pork Sausages that is in a bowl of soup, and a handful of minced meat with spring onions on top of the noodle. That honestly attracted his attention. Without second thought he has a bowl of that, and he was happily having it cuz, that’s nothing we could find in Penang.

It was truly a happy breakfast!

Oh ya, due to many customers waiting for table, there was another lady was looking for a place to have her breakfast, of course, we wouldn’t mind having another person sharing the table with us.

2009_12_26 Wing Heng Imbi 002a

And guess what she was having then? A plate of Char Koay Teow… and mind you … it was absolutely fragrant. By looking at it, without any hesitation I just took out my camera and have a few shots on it. I bet she was wondering what is that to shoot?

I bet you’re a breakfast person that wants to have good breakfast, right? I would recommend this place if you’re down in KL for a break. Apart from these noodles, in fact, there’s a pastry stall that’s selling egg tarts and etc. The egg tart is absolutely mini in size and it costs RM0.50, though you may find it expensive, but it’s a must to have. I didn’t get to have any as they sold out pretty fast. Got to bake again for another batch of customers and I could see people lining up for that… thus, the egg tart is truly recommended.

Crystal Jade Restaurant 翡翠酒家

2009_12_25 Crystal Jade 004a

What I hate most is I gotta figure out my way to look for food in KL. One reason is because I don’t have a GPS that could guide me to the destination, second reason while you’re doing your shopping in a mall, you will tend to eat in instead of driving out for food.

And this is where I landed for my lunch when I was in KL.

Crystal Jade Restaurant, if am not mistaken is a franchise chain Chinese restaurant based in Singapore. They first opened in Lot 10, and then followed by Pavilion and this The Garden Mid Valley. In fact, I’ve dined in one of their outlet in Pavilion last year.

2009_12_25 Crystal Jade 012a

Food here is no doubt to query. In fact, I do quite like their Xiao Long Bao. That’s why without second thought we have that for our lunch.

2009_12_25 Crystal Jade 006a

A plate of fried rice seriously is huge in serving. Just nice for two person to have. It’s fragrant, and you could see the bits and pieces of rice.

2009_12_25 Crystal Jade 014a

Since I didn’t take full course of lunch, we ordered something simple like Siew Mai as well. Moisture, and the meat and prawns are fresh and tender.

2009_12_25 Crystal Jade 013a

A plate of assorted meat like Roasted Duck, Steamed Chicken and Roasted Pork was ordered as well. It serves with special made sauce for that.

Overall we both have a satisfactory lunch, though a bit pricey. Well, for the reason of short break, guess worth it.
